How Often Are Social Security Disability Applications Rejected?
Every year, the government receives hundreds of thousands of applications for Social Security Disability benefits. Each year, 60% of these applications are denied. When an application is turned down, the applicant has a 60 day period in which to file an appeal. Again, the level of rejection of appeals is high, with only about 15% of appeals being approved. When an appeal is denied, applicants then have the option of scheduling a hearing with an Administrative Law Judge.
