Ticket to Work Program
Many individuals who receive assistance from Social Security Disability benefits wish to return to some type of work. The Social Security Administration has program in place to make this possible without disability recipients losing their benefits. It is called the Ticket to Work program.
How the Program Helps
The Ticket to Work program increased the beneficiary’s choice in obtaining rehabilitation and vocational services to help them go to work and attain their employment goals. Its purpose is to remove barriers that require people with disabilities to choose between health care coverage and work. The program assures that more Americans with disabilities have the opportunity to participate in the workforce and lessen their dependence on public benefits.
How the Program Works
The Ticket to Work program is completely free and voluntary. This means that just because a beneficiary receives a ticket, they are not required or obligated to use it. A beneficiary receives a ticket and then contacts an employment network. An agreement is reached between the beneficiary and the employment network regarding services and a plan to assist the beneficiary in reaching his/her employment goal.
It is available in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
